Requirements and Eligibility

Offered by Sciences Po and the UBC Faculty of Arts, the UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree is a direct entry to first year degree program, open to both domestic and international applicants. Students in the UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program are bright, enthusiastic individuals who have a keen interest in global affairs and perspectives, and an interest in an interdisciplinary social sciences curriculum that includes history, law, political science, economics, and sociology.


The UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program is open to both domestic and international students. The program is not open to students with a previous degree or students who have already completed some or any post-secondary studies. This program is direct entry from high school only. French fluency is not required for the Dual Degree unless you are choosing to study in the Europe-Africa program in Reims.

If you are unsuccessful in your application to the Dual Degree program, you will be automatically considered for admission to UBC’s regular BA program. For consideration to the Sciences Po BA program (and not UBC), please apply to Sciences Po directly.

General Admission and Program-Specific Requirements

All students applying to the UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program must meet both the UBC general admission requirements, as well as program-specific requirements for the UBC Faculty of Arts.

All applicants must meet UBC’s general admission requirements, program-specific requirements to the BA, and provide proof of English language competency. Students are assessed on a combination of their academic achievement, intellectual readiness, and aspirations.

Supplemental Application

All applicants to the UBC Sciences Po Dual Degree program are required to submit a supplemental application. The supplemental application is completed online at You will be asked to submit some personal information, a written response, curriculum vitae (CV), and copies of your academic transcripts. The supplemental application deadline is January 9, 2018.

Applicant Interviews

All applicants will be notified in mid-February about the status of their application. If you are shortlisted for the Dual Degree program, you will be invited to meet with representatives from both UBC and Sciences Po for an interview. This interview is required for all shortlisted applicants, and you will be asked to select an interview date and location in the supplemental application. You will have the option of choosing an in-person or virtual interview.

Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified of their ongoing consideration for the regular UBC BA program.
